There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other’ stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other. So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias. Gyumi from the Philippines is the next fan to answer our questions. She is a fan of TRENDZ and more particularly of Leon! Check out how she entered the fandom, the songs and content she advises to new fans, and much more! Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from? Hello, I’m Gyumi, from the Philippines. How and when did you enter the fandom? Actually I learned about TRENDZ last December when my friends (from other fandoms) introduced me to them. So I checked the group and watched their videos on YouTube, I knew back then that I would probably support this upcoming boy group. What are the reasons why you love your favorite group? Their uniqueness and friendships. Not the fact that TRENDZ members are very talented and they are always amazing while performing on stage. That’s the reason why I love them so much and will do my best to support them. Who caught your attention at first and why? It’s HaVit, because he seems like a soft baby when I saw his profile image (see photo below). I searched about him and surprised that he is the Hyung in the group. Also I found out that he is one of the contestants of the survival show “MIXNINE”. Who is your bias, and why? It’s hard to choose a bias to be honest, but my number one on the list is Leon, because every time I see him smile it makes my heart melt and I really like the way he dances too. Also Leon really has this soulful voice that you will literally fall for right away. Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans? Since TRENDZ recently debuted, I recommend you to listen to their title track ‘TNT (Truth & Trust)’ and for the B-side track is ‘Villain’. You can try to listen to their other B-side tracks ‘Be My Love’ and ‘Trauma’. Can you recommend a fancam, V Live, cover video, cover dance, or individual content video of your bias to our readers? They recently uploaded a cover of ‘Iffy’ by Chris Brown choreographed by Leon with Ra.L. It is really an awesome cover. Can you also do the same type of recommendation for the group? I want everyone to watch their TRENDY? TRENDZ! SEASON 1 & 2. It’s full of laughter and you will get to know more about TRENDZ. It’s good for those who want to know more about TRENDZ ^^ Can you share with us one of your favorite lyrics? “I’m Bad Villain, I’ll be your wound healer” - from ‘Villain’. What is your favorite group/bias’ influence on your daily life? They always remind me that the world is still beautiful. What is your favorite side of fangirling/fanboying? When they recognized me during the video call fansign. Can you recommend words that your bias like to hear to new fans who don’t know yet about it? Compliment words, Leon really likes to hear it, especially when it comes to his dancing and singing skills. Can you describe your bias in only one word? Angel. Can you share a fun episode that only fans from your fandom know to readers? There is one episode of PracticeRoom24 (연습실24) that is full of laughter. If you are collecting goods, what is your most precious treasure? My BLUE SET Chapter 1 signed album and Ra.L’s signed pola. If you can spend a day with your bias, where will you go and what will you do? LA! Since it’s one of Leon’s place that he wants to travel to someday and we will tour the entire city for a whole day! What’s your favourite 2022 moment involving your bias? During video call events, they really are sweet babies and very understanding when it comes to our languages. They know how to make me comfortable talking to them for the first time. Please recommend your favorite selfie by your bias. This one: Name a variety show/content show that you would love to see your bias on? Tell us why. Arirang “After School Club”, because that show really is an international friendly. Also, it’s a chance to promote TRENDZ globally. So I really hope ASC will invite them too someday. What is your favourite way of communicating with your bias? By writing to him on fancafe and or watching and commenting during his VLive. What do you have in common with your favourite idol? Sleeping! Leon loves to sleep so do I 😂. If you could write a book about your bias, what would the first and last lines be? 1st line : An angel suddenly appear in front of me. Last line : Thank you for coming into my life. Have you ever made a new friend because of K-Pop? Yes, A lot! So I’m really thankful that K-Pop exists in this world! Gyumi’s message to TRENDZ: To TRENDZ, We may be far from each other.
