Keeping the popularity of campus romance dramas in mind, we picked 10 couples made up of actors (including idol actors) that we would love to see in one, whether as students, professors, or otherwise! Don’t forget to vote for your one pick in the poll at the end of the article! Note: This list is not ranked in any particular order.
1. Golden Child’s Choi BoMin & Shin YeEun
Choi BoMin is undoubtedly one of the strongest and most versatile rising stars in the Korean entertainment industry at the moment and Shin YeEun has long been a television sweetheart. YeEun made a special appearance in “A-Teen 2”, which was lead by BoMin and we saw a glimpse of their warm chemistry during their stint as the joint MCs of “Music Bank”. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that it is about time we see them as an on-screen couple, preferably in a dreamy campus romance drama.
2. BLACKPINK’s JiSoo & Hwang InYoup
Two of the most standout new actors from 2021, BLACKPINK’s JiSoo and Hwang InYoup, are both exceptional in their command over acting. JiSoo gave an incredibly poignant performance as Eun YoungRo in “Snowdrop” and Hwang InYoup is currently stealing our hearts as Gong Chan in “Why Her?”. Their fine sensibilities and extraordinary potential would make them a perfect match for each other as actors.
3. Seo KangJoon & Kim SoHyun
With visuals straight out of a romance manhwa and talent that makes them shine brighter than the stars, Seo KangJoon and Kim SoHyun is a legendary pairing that we just can’t get enough of. They starred together in the SBS drama “The Suspicious Housekeeper” where they explored the concept of first love in school. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to see them as leading actors in a university setting now?
4. Roh JeongEui & SF9’s Chani
Chani and Roh JeongEui are not newcomers in the world of entertainment in any way. As a matter of fact, their extensive filmography is worth high praise. Yet, there’s a sense of novelty and freshness to them that is pleasantly surprising every time they take on a new role. Seeing them together in a sweet campus rom-com would be a K-Drama fan’s dream come true.
5. GOT7’s JinYoung & Han SoHee
When GOT7’s JinYoung stepped into the acting scene, he must have had a clear goal in mind because in just a few years, he has established himself as a force to be reckoned with. The same can be said about Han SoHee, who started off as an ace and continues to hold the position with grace. Both actors have an ever-expanding unique duality in their acting, which is inimitable, to say the least. A JinYoung x Han SoHee campus drama would break the internet.
6. Kim HyeYoon & ASTRO’s Cha EunWoo
Kim HyeYoon has a penchant for endearing herself to the audience in a way that stays with them long after a drama or film is over. She also has a special way of bonding with her co-actors that brings the story to life. When combined with Cha EunWoo’s unbelievable screen presence and his ability to portray his characters beyond the scope of the script, we would have the unbeatable formula for a blockbuster. Kim HyeYoon and Cha EunWoo is most definitely a dream pairing!
7. Lee DoHyun & Choi SungEun
In any conversation about the future of Hallyu, two names remain undeniably irreplaceable: Lee DoHyun and Choi SungEun. Both actors are wonderfully capable of handling intellectual, more serious roles as well as playful, heart-warming characters. A campus romance starring the two would be the most healing, wholesome, and memorable thing to ever happen to the K-Drama fandom and we cannot wait for that reality to manifest itself.
8. Kim YongJi & Kim Beom
A screen pairing that we will never get tired of idolizing is Lee Rang and YooRi, played by Kim Beom and Kim YongJi in “Tale of the Nine-Tailed”. The duo made us feel things that we didn’t even know we were capable of and reminded us of the power of platonic love. However, that still hasn’t quashed our deep desire to see them as a romantic couple in a good old romantic comedy. Their spunky chemistry is simply too addictive.
9. Kim DoWan & Seor InA
The internet’s collective crushes, Kim DoWan and Seor InA, have similar irresistible charms that win over their audience’s hearts every time they appear on screen. Not only do they have impeccable comedic timing but they’re also deeply loveable, even when they’re playing complex, morally ambiguous characters. If these two amazing actors were to pair up for a campus romance drama, it would be the very definition of “live, laugh, love”.
10. Jung HoYeon & Jung HaeIn
When it comes to a dream casting, we cannot think of a pair more compatible in intensity than Jung HoYeon and Jung HaeIn. With Jung HaeIn’s keen understanding of human nature and Jung HoYeon’s unmatched skills, this couple would be perfect for a grittier, more mature take on campus dramas. Needless to say, it would be nothing short of a masterpiece.
